| spa |

In the case of cancer, lymphadenectomy produces multiple secondary events such as: temporary or permanent numbness of the internal face of the arm, temporary limitation of arm and shoulder movement, or lymphedema of the upper limb (1). To reduce these complications inherent to the procedure, implemented around the 80s, lymphoscintigraphy. It is, it is a tool widely used for sentinel node (SLN) localization “sentinel lymph node”) in the context of surgical management of breast cancer, with high diagnostic yield, in order to limit radical lymph node dissection while given the conditions, as an objective of locating the lymph nodes compromised by lymphatic Lymphoscintigraphy is a non-invasive study through which a radionuclide at the subcutaneous level in relation to the area of location of the primary lesion, and with this to be able to detect the number of potentially compromised nodes named sentinel nodes, in order to have a guide during the surgical act and avoid, as far as possible, radical lymph node dissection as possible. The American College Oncology Group of Surgeons (ACOSOG) Z0011 trial, reported sensory loss for this in 13% at a 44%, compared to 12% in the case of radioguided surgery, likewise, reporting lymphedema in 2% on lymphatic mapping with sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) Lymphatic mapping with sentinel lymph node biopsy) vs. 30% (1 out of 3 cases) with respect to the radical procedure (1). Initially according to describe techniques in methylene blue Giuliano 1994 (2), but for different drawbacks, the greatest being poor intraoperative visibility, they were replaced gradually by techniques with better performance. | spa |
