dc.description.abstractContenido: El melanoma cutáneo representa un porcentaje bajo de todos los tumores malignos de la piel pero ocasiona el 80% de las muertes por cáncer de piel. En Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana se desconocen datos relacionados con la supervivencia. El objetivo principal fue determinar la tasa de supervivencia a 5 años y como objetivos secundarios se definieron; describir las características socio-demográficas e histopatológicas y evaluar la asociación de la supervivencia con el género, localización anatómica del tumor y edad al momento del diagnóstico. Para esto se estudió una cohorte retrospectiva con 210 casos de melanoma cutáneo validados en el Registro Poblacional de Cáncer de Bucaramanga y su Área Metropolitana entre los años 2000 y 2009. La tasa global de supervivencia a 5 años estimada para melanomas cutáneos infiltrantes fue de 79,3%. En el análisis de supervivencia a 5 años según género, edad y localización anatómica aunque se identificaron diferencias, estas no fueron estadísticamente significativas.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishContent: Cutaneous melanoma represents a low percentage of all malignant skin tumors but causes 80% of all cancer deaths skin. Related data is unknown in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area with survival. The main objective was to determine the survival rate at 5 years and as secondary objectives were defined; describe the characteristics socio-demographic and histopathological studies and evaluate the association of survival with gender, anatomical location of the tumor and age at the time of diagnosis. For this, a retrospective cohort with 210 cases of cutaneous melanoma validated in the Population Cancer Registry of Bucaramanga and its Metropolitan Area between 2000 and 2009. The Estimated 5-Year Overall Survival Rate for Cutaneous Melanomas infiltrants was 79.3%. In the 5-year survival analysis according to gender, age and location anatomical although differences were identified, these were not statistically significant.eng
