Every 30 seconds a lower limb (or part of it) is lost due to diabetes and its main complication, chronic diabetic foot ulcers, so early diagnosis and effective treatment can reduce this risk. 3D bioprinting is an emerging technology that allows the creation of customized dressings, improving the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers by enabling the manufacture of personalized therapeutic alternatives, however, to date, biomaterial inks that allow reliable printing and treatment efficacy are required. This paper evaluates the concentration, printing parameters and cross-linking of an alginate and platelet-poor plasma-based biomaterial ink as a biomaterial ink in the 3D printing of dressings for ulcer treatment. To date, the concentration of 5.5% w/w alginate and 0.55% w/w CaCl2 dissolved in platelet-poor plasma has been found to be the formulation with the best printability results.spa
