The fibers and by-products resulting from the harvesting and processing stages of the fique agro-industrial value chain in Colombia possess significant potential for the development and enhancement of technological capacities aimed at waste utilization, thereby increasing their value chain. The artisanal paper-making process, rooted in ancestral knowledge, has preserved the cultural identity of the Santander region specifically through the Taller de Papel Fundación San Lorenzo de Barichara. This study explored the opportunities for implementing technological pathways based on circular economy principles within the artisanal paper industry. Key areas of focus included the technical optimization of the fiber hydrolysis process, wastewater reuse discharged throughout the entire process of obtaining the final product, valorization of by-products, and energy recovery from wastewater. The scope of the study also encompassed the quantification of process emissions and the development of a phased implementation plan for the proposed technological routes over the short, medium, and long term.spa
