| dc.description.abstract | La Dirección General de la Salud de las Personas define “la satisfacción laboral como la percepción que tienen los trabajadores de su ambiente de trabajo y que se traduce en la satisfacción o insatisfacción en relación con lo que espera de la organización y lo que percibe de ella” (2002, Lima, Perú). De acuerdo a la investigación desarrollada por Abdel-Tawab; “la satisfacción de los trabajadores de las instituciones sanitarias es un elemento que forma parte de la definición de calidad de la atención prestada” (1995: 242-5). Tal como lo señalan Wieclaw, Agerbo, Mortensen y Bonde, “los empleados que trabajan en instituciones hospitalarias en que se atienden a personas que presentan trastornos mentales mayores enfrentan un ambiente o entorno laboral particular, con mayores estresores” (2005; 343-51). En Colombia no se han estudiado los factores relacionados con satisfacción laboral en empleados de una institución pública o privada que atiende a personas con trastornos mentales y en proceso de reestructuración. Es importante conocer con precisión algunos factores asociados con la satisfacción laboral en esta población con el propósito de tomar medidas administrativas en la prevención primaria, la identificación temprana (prevención secundaria) y el manejo adecuado y oportuno para evitar secuelas en el personal (prevención terciaria) y costos innecesarios y previsibles en la institución. Desde la perspectiva de un manejo de gerencia con eficacia y eficiencia, se deben manejar de manera integral todos los aspectos posibles relacionados con el ambiente laboral.
