| dc.description.abstract | Justificación: En la actualidad el uso de antibióticos sin prescripción médica se ha convertido en una práctica usual que contribuye al fenómeno de resistencia a los antimicrobianos, causa importante de mortalidad alrededor del mundo. En el caso de los niños menores de 18 años, los antibióticos son los medicamentos más comúnmente recetados y los que contribuyen en mayor proporción al fenómeno descrito. Métodos: Se encontraron 119 artículos a través de la búsqueda en PubMed que incluyeran los términos MeSH: drug misuse, self medication, anti-bacterial agents or antibiotics, health knowledge, attitudes, practice or health risk behaviors, child, caregivers, parents entre el 1 de enero de 2009 y el 30 de junio de 2019. Resultados: 41 artículos fueron incluidos, ninguno en América Latina. Sin embargo, el presente informe está enfocado en la presentación de resultados de siete estudios tipo Conocimientos, Actitudes y Prácticas (CAP).Se han estudiado un gran número de determinantes que influyen en el uso irracional de antibióticos y los más prevalentes son; creer que los antibióticos son pertinentes para tratar infecciones virales, y cuando se presente fiebre. Además los padres dan antibióticos antes de consultarlo con un especialista. Conclusiones: Los estudios revisados advierten que los padres tienen inclinación por el uso de antibióticos cuando sus hijos presentan sintomatología de resfriado común. | spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Justification: Currently the use of unprescribed medical antibiotics has become an usual practice that contributes on the antimicrobial resistance fenomenon, which is an important cause of mortality around the world. Being the case of children younger than 18 years old, antibiotics are the most commonly prescribed medications and those that contribute in the biggest proportion of the aforementioned fenomenon. Methods: 119 articles were found through the search on PubMED that include MeSH terms such as: drug misuse, self medication, antibacterial agents or antibiotics, health knowledge, attitudes, practice or health risk behaviors, child, caregivers, parents between january 1 of 2009 and june 30 of 2019. Results: 41 articles were included, none in Latin America. Nevertheless, the present manuscript approaches the presentation of results of seven Knowledges, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) studies. It has been studied a great number of determinants that influence rational use of antibiotics and the most prevalent are: believing antibiotics are appropriate on the treatment of viral infections and when fever is present. Besides parents administered antibiotics before the advice of a specialist. Conclusions: The examined articles warn about parent’s preference for the use of antibiotics when their children present symptoms of common cold. | spa |
