The main purpose of the study reported in this paper is working as an auxiliary researcher of an on-going project, teacher talk, and to familiarize the auxiliary rescarcher with the most common qualitative rescarch procedures. Thus, principal investigators assigned some research activities to accomplish the following specific objectives: to raise awareness of nature of classroom research, to search different sources, to create bibliography for each study, to introduce class observation as a research method of use in education and to try a class observation instrument. As an auxiliary researcher, the author observed many different classes in an English Language environment. This study was conducted in four classes of English as a foreign language. The students were from high school and undergraduate programs and their average age was between eleven and seventeen years old. The instructors were individually observed using an observation checklist. The responses are presented with ihe guiding research question to enable careful pattern analysis and thematic inquiry. The literature review offers theoretical reasons as to why the theachers talk in a language classroom causing difficulties in the classroom interaction between teachers and students. This study also offers practical guidance for those contemplating similar situations presented in a classroom. The data collected support the hypothesis stated at the beginning of the study by the principal researcher. Thus, teacher speaks in class more than half the time. As a result, students are low-generators to participate voluntarily in class.spa
