| spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Interpersonal coordination, the ability to synchronize behaviors among individuals, has been subject of interest in psychological and neuroscientific research. This phenomenon, crucial for optimizing social interaction, has been shown to promote prosocial behaviors such as cooperation. Underlying mechanisms, such as mirror neurons, suggest a biological basis for empathy and coordination. Although previous studies have explored these aspects, research in specific contexts, such as college students in Colombia, has been limited. This study examined the influence of interpersonal coordination on prosocial behaviors amongst health students at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga. Results indicated that imitation increased the magnitude of prosocial behaviors, although not their frequency. Additionally, confirming the positive influence of interaction length on the magnitude of prosocial responses. Contrary to expectations, no significant differences were found base on gender. However, imitation was found to affect not only behavior towards the direct imitator but also towards others, suggesting an effect on the general willingness of imitated individuals towards prosociality. These findings highlight the importance of considering the length and nature of imitation in the design of interventions to promote prosocial behaviors. Further exploration of the influence of imitation in diverse contexts and species for future research is suggested, as well as the impact of interaction duration on the effectiveness of imitation in promoting prosocial behaviors. | spa |
