dc.description.abstractenglishAschenbach es el poeta de la modernidad. De familia burguesa, su talento no corresponde a esa inspiración que sólo los dioses nos pueden dar, y lejos de suplir el ideal antiguo donde en un momento de profundo éxtasis y emoción los poetas se consagraban a las musas¹, nuestro viejo poeta responde en cambio más al estilo de esos seres que trabajaban confiados de su arte/habilidad a través de un proceso pensado y laborado–propio de la época– desde y por la racionalidad... es el poeta de toda esa gente tosca y hostil, de esos seres descreídos, inanimados y serviles, destacables por su egocentrismo y orgullosos de su "verdadero" conocimiento encallados en extremos racionales y empíricos. Es el poeta de este terrible hombre, predicador de la igualdad y enceguecido por su creencia en el progreso que nos lo anuncia ya con temor Nietzsche
