| dc.description.abstract | El cáncer de próstata es la segunda neoplasia no cutánea más frecuente en hombres1, con una incidencia hacia 2012 de 1,1 mill casos nuevos/ año, ascendiendo a 1,4 millón casos nuevos/año a nivel mundial en 20202, con una tasa ajustada por edad de 30,7 por cada 100.000 hombres. En Colombia, se realizaron 3.708 diagnósticos nuevos entre Enero de 2019 y Enero de 2020, con 328 fallecidos3, es la quinta causa de muerte por cáncer en la población masculina con cifras de 2400 muertes/año. El pico de incidencia es en mayores de 60 años, con riesgo acumulado de tener cáncer de próstata de 4,5%. El diagnóstico en pacientes con sospecha clínica dada por niveles elevados de PSA y tacto rectal sospechoso, hasta el momento es realizado a través de biopsia vía transrectal guiada por ecografía, con detección entre 30-40% y tasas de falsos negativos 20-30%. Teniendo en cuenta estas limitaciones y con el advenimiento de nuevas tecnologías, como la resonancia multiparamétrica de próstata, donde su objetivo es hacer una estimación de riesgo de tener lesiones clínicamente significativas, se han creado nuevas estrategias para mejorar la tasa de detección de cancer de próstata, y es por eso que a nivel mundial se ha instaurado la biopsia transrectal de prostata con fusión de imágenes de ecografía y resonancia, con muy buenos resultados costo efectivos en los diferentes estudios poblaciones, siendo implementado como estrategia de estudio de cáncer de próstata. | spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Prostate cancer is the second most common non-cutaneous neoplasm in men1, with an incidence by 2012 of 1.1 million new cases / year, amounting to 1.4 million new cases / year worldwide in 20202, with an adjusted rate by age of 30.7 per 100,000 men. In Colombia, between January 2019 and January 2020, 3,708 new diagnoses were made and 328 deaths3, it is the fifth cause of death from cancer in the male population with figures of 2,400 deaths / year. The peak incidence is in those over 60 years of age, with a cumulative risk of having prostate cancer of 4.5%. The diagnosis in patients with clinical suspicion given by elevated levels of PSA and suspicious digital rectal examination, to date, has been made through ultrasound-guided transrectal biopsy, with detection between 30-40% and false negative rates 20-30%. Taking into account these limitations and with the advent of new technologies, such as multiparametric resonance imaging of the prostate, where its objective is to estimate the risk of having clinically significant lesions, new strategies have been created to improve the detection rate of prostate cancer , and that is why transrectal prostate biopsy with fusion of ultrasound and resonance images has been established worldwide, with very good cost-effective results in different population studies, being implemented as a strategy for the study of prostate cancer. | spa |
